Celebrating 50 Years of Service!

In 2026, the HSG Family of Companies proudly marks 50 years of service to hospitals, physicians, and healthcare providers.

Our journey began on March 19, 1976, with the formation of the Missouri Professional Liability Insurance Association (MPLIA)—created to support healthcare providers during a period of significant change in the medical liability insurance landscape. When coverage options were shrinking, MPLIA was formed by hospitals, for hospitals, to ensure continued access to reliable medical professional liability protection.

As healthcare delivery, regulation, and risk evolved, so did we. Over the decades, the HSG Family of Companies expanded through the creation of Missouri Hospital Plan (MHP), Healthcare Services Group (HSG), Providers Insurance Consultants (ProCon), and the Medical Liability Alliance (MLA)—each established to address emerging insurance, risk management, and service needs across the healthcare continuum.

Throughout this growth, our purpose has remained constant: to protect and promote quality healthcare.

Built on five decades of resilience, innovation, and collaboration, we continue to serve as a trusted provider of comprehensive, fairly priced, high quality insurance solutions and value-added services.

This milestone reflects our enduring commitment to supporting hospitals, physicians, and healthcare providers today—and well into the future. We extend our heartfelt thank you to those who have put their trust in us throughout the last 50 years.
