Executive
Dana Frese, JD, CPCU, ARe currently serves as President/CEO for Healthcare Services Group, previously serving as Executive Vice President-Claims & General Counsel.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Cole County Bar Association, Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, CPCU Society, Defense Research Institute, and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
He is past President and former board member of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers. He also serves on the boards of the Missouri Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association and the Jefferson City Country Club. He is the President of the Parish Council for St. Stanislaus parish in Wardsville, Missouri.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Missouri Southern State College and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has also completed the Executive Leadership certificate program through Cornell University.
Accounting
Aaron Cooper, CPA, CPCU, joined HSG in November 2018. In January 2020, Aaron was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining HSG, he was a Partner with Brown Smith Wallace, LLP in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent more than 15 years in public accounting specializing in providing professional consulting and audit services to insurance companies across the United States.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Aaron has served two terms as President of the Show-Me Chapter of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (“IASA”). He has also taught a number of courses for IASA (local and regional conferences as well as national eLearning webinars).
Aaron is a licensed CPA and a graduate of Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master’s of Accountancy.

Underwriting
Jesse Muenks, CPCU, RPLU, ARe, joined the staff of HSG in 2003 earning the position of Underwriting Manager in 2015. She was promoted to Director of Underwriting in 2017 and Vice President-Underwriting in 2021.
Ms. Muenks graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. She earned the designation of RPLU in 2005, and in 2013 completed studies to earn the designation of CPCU from The Institutes and in 2017 the ARe designation. She is a member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society (CPCU) and Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
Chief Medical Officer
Diane L. Light, DO FACOS
Diane L. Light, DO FACOS serves as Chief Medical Officer for Healthcare Services Group. She has served on the Board of Directors for Medical Liability Alliance since 2006. During that time, she has also served on the Board of Directors for the HSG Charitable Foundation and joint claims committee for Medical Liability Alliance and Missouri Hospital Plan.
Dr. Light has served the greater Jefferson City area since 1992 as a General Surgeon. She has been active in leadership roles at Capital Region Medical Center, serving on the Board of Directors and several hospital committees. She is currently serving on the MU Health Alliance Board of Directors. She previously held positions on the YMCA Board of Directors and the City of Jefferson Historical Preservation Commission.
Dr. Light received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia, Doctor of Osteopathy from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU) and completed a General Surgery residency in Lansing, Michigan. She is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. She is a member of American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Laura Hirschinger RN, MSN, AHN-BC, CPPS, CPHRM
Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety
Laura Hirschinger, RN, MSN, AHN-BC, CPPS, CPHRM serves as the Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety for Healthcare Services Group.
Laura has over 25 years of healthcare experience, with the past seven years focused on the insurance industry as risk management consultant and manager. Her clinical nursing experience is in a variety of nursing specialties, including medical-surgical, neonatal intensive care, pain management, and palliative care. She also has over 10 years of experience in hospital leadership roles of Risk and Regulatory Professional, Performance Improvement Specialist—Patient Safety, and Coordinator of Ambulatory Patient Care Services.
Laura has co-authored several academic articles on the topics of second-victim response and peer-support teams. She has presented her research findings at conferences and hospitals throughout the United States.
She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Holistic Nursing from the Jewish Hospital College of Nursing and Allied Health at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, Laura holds the designations of Advanced Holistic Nurse Board Certified (AHN-BC) and Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). In 2023, she earned the Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) designation from the American Hospital Association.
Claims
Michael Murphy, JD
Director of Claims
Mike Murphy, JD, currently serves as the Director of Claims for Healthcare Services Group.
Mike has over three decades defending corporations and individuals, including hospitals and healthcare providers, in complex litigation involving alleged serious personal injuries in various venues across the country.
He received his law degree in 1991 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. While in law school, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and was selected to serve as the Editor in Chief of the Missouri Law Review. In addition, the law school faculty selected Mike to receive the Shepard Barclay Prize, which is awarded annually to “the senior who has attained the highest standing in scholarship and moral leadership.”
Mike has been elected as a fellow in both the American Bar Foundation and the Litigation Counsel of America. He is a two time recipient of the Missouri Bar’s W. Oliver Rasch Award. n 2020, the Missouri Bar Foundation selected Mike to receive its Purcell Professionalism Award, which is given annually to recognize “outstanding professionalism in a Missouri lawyer who has consistently demonstrated an exceptional degree of competency, integrity, and civility in both professional and civic activities.” While in private practice, Mike was regularly named as a Missouri-Kansas Super Lawyer, and has been named to the Best Lawyers in America in the areas of products liability and commercial litigation. A regular speaker at continuing legal education events in the area of civil trial practice, Mike chaired the Missouri Bar’s Civil Practice and Procedure Committee from 2021 to 2024.
In addition to his practice responsibilities, Mike serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where his teaching responsibilities have included Pretrial Litigation, Advanced Trial Practice, Deposition Practice and Procedure, and Forensic Medicine.
